With this so called Formel-Series he enters new territory as a designer.
The areal design describes the change from design to art. From the two dimensional to LED Light Installations.It may not surprise that this totaldesign with hardly more than two or three colours ( red-green-blue) was preferably used on small areas like tables and chairs.
On the other side these prototypes were artistic and modern and they seemed difficult to be imitated and such to surface as plagiarisms.
From this it follows that the objects emanate rather from a NO-Design-Movement. A Design-Movement from the last century.
His early paintings have a peculiar dynamic.
To distinguish them he used letters and numbers.
The Formal-Serie is not only a result of an analysis with the the figur-element-problem but further more a result of an architectural plan, a program to build cities.
Would one ask Mahla to build the lights of a metropolis or utopic cities,
his paintings would be the apodictic base in front of a plan of streets and routes.
